Product Roadmap Update for Autumn 2025

2025

There are some big improvements coming to BetterLetter over the next couple of months, and we wanted to give you a sneak preview of what’s next.

October: Smart Templates

In early October, we’re introducing Smart Templates designed to give you more flexibility and control over what the AI suggests in different situations.

With Smart Templates, BetterLetter will automatically apply specific coding rules tailored to different types of documents. For example, a weight management template can be set to only suggest codes for height, weight, BMI and specific weight management medications. We will provide preconfigured Smart Templates for common letter types, and in the future practices will be able to configure their own Smart Templates to suit their local coding protocol.

Smart Templates are a big step forward especially for practices who prefer a light-touch approach to coding. It means simple letters are “ready to file” with minimal review, while practices can choose to default to either the “Comprehensive AI” experience they know today or a minimal starting point to which they can quickly and easily add additional codes.

November: Most Commonly Requested Coding Enhancements

Next up are a series of improvements requested by many of our customers:

  • Provisional filing of letters to the patient record as soon as they are patient matched, enabling clinicians to view patient letters in the EHR while they are still in coding.
  • Patient visibility controls allowing more flexibility in what patients can or cannot see when a letter is complete.
  • Average BP and BMI calculations to be automatically generated where possible.
  • Enhanced problem flexibility, allowing significant problems to be coded with an end date, or minor problems to be coded with indefinite length.

These changes are designed to save time, improve safety and reduce friction when coding.

December: Bulk actions and assignments for letters

In December, we’ll focus on giving you greater control how your team organises their work.

This improvement will focus on an updated and improved “inbox” view, where filters, templates and common tasks can be viewed separately and automatically assigned to certain teams:

  • Enhanced filtering enabling you to separate letters for “ready to file”, “simple coding”, “complex coding” and “urgent”.
  • Bulk assignment rules for users and teams to automatically route letters to the correct user group and organise their work for them.
  • More control and visibility about where every letter is in the system, so you stay in control and can decide what to prioritise each day.

Looking Ahead

We’re always listening to feedback from practices, and we plan our roadmap around what is most frequently requested and what is most urgent. If you have any suggestions or requests please let us know.

We’re excited to roll these changes out and continue growing alongside you. Thank you for being part of our journey and for helping us shape the future of BetterLetter.
